Wyldflower 2020 Slow and Simple Summer Guide
It's officially summer and maybe everything on your calendar has been cancelled (like our retreats) but I'm here to tell you - all is not lost! Guess what? You get ONE summer of slow and simple. How many times have we wished we didn't have to run from from activity to activity and for more slow summer days? Well here's our chance.
Welcome to Summer 2020 - a popsicle, sprinkler, let the kids get messy and hose them off kinda summer. The kind of summer our parents used to have: simple, slow, relaxed, unplanned - it's our chance to give that to our kids and ourselves.
We've gathered a list of things to aid in your SLOW & SIMPLE summer. Bookmark this link and come back to it when you need a little inspiration.
Experiences
Backyard camping
It's time to dust off your camping tent and set it up in your yard. Add in some glow sticks, flashlights and s'mores and you have all of summer's favorite things - your kids will love it and so will you.
Don't have a tent? Check out our new partner - Camp'd Out Tents - they'll set up a beautiful bell tent in your yard for 2-7 days, furnished or unfurnished. The ultimate kid fort and summer memory in the making. Reply to this email for their special pricing exclusive to The Wyldflower Collective
Don't have a yard? Camp'd Out Tents will set up Glamping tents for you in a array of privately owned campsites like this one or this one near Joshua Tree, this one in Cuyama or this private horse ranch in Big Bear.
Celebrating something special? Add Conner Cherland Live Music to your backyard camping experience for the ultimate summer experience. You don't need to be within 6 feet to hear his beautiful music.
Beach, beach, beach
There's never been a better summer to enjoy the beach - wear the kids out where there's enough fresh air for all.
If you want to get fancy and make things even easier? Check out Beach Now - they'll set up your beach day (and take it away too). Add ons like games and cheese boards are optional (and awesome).

Just for Kids
Screentime Saver!
Do your kids constantly ask you for more screen time? It's not the screen time that bothers me as much as the behavior before and after getting the screen time. That's why we used to be a 'screens on the weekend only' kinda family then enter Covid-19, and that went out the window. SO to ward off the constant requests we've instituted this trick which has been working! Every day they EARN their afternoon screen time based on their behavior that day AND these 3 questions
Have you played outside yet today?
Have you done your chores?
Have you learned something new today? (at least done some reading?)
It's working for our 6 year old and our 3 year old follows along. Adjust the questions to fit your child - so far so good!
Free Piano Lessons!
During these trying times, Kat's Keys wants to serve in a creative way by offering 4 FREE Online Piano Lessons ($260 Value!) (piano needed or get a starter keyboard on Amazon for $100!)
Actually affordable tutoring!
If you feel like you're also playing catch up this summer, we have a great tutor to help take the pressure off of you! One of our event childcare providers is a K-12 tutor and $25/hour virtually or $30/hour in person! Meeting with her weekly this summer has helped kick off our week with learning that's not forced by us! Camila has a BA in Psychology and Philosophy and a Master's in Philosophy at Loyola Marymount University where she taught college-level courses for two years. "I have always loved education and my goal is to be a full-time educator. I genuinely enjoy helping people learn, especially children." says Camila. Contact her at matus.camila@gmail.com
Vent Sesh
A slower summer is the perfect time to re-evaluate what's working and what isn't in your life. I'm here to help. Schedule a Vent Sesh with me, currently 2 for the price of 1. I'll listen to you without judgement, we'll talk about your current challenges, and together make a game plan with practical solutions, then I'll follow up with you to help you stay on track.
